Former legal advisor to ex-President Nana Akufo-Addo, Kow Essuman, has questioned Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s silence on President John Dramani Mahama’s use of Dzata Airlines for official travels.
In a social media post on Wednesday, March 19, Mr Essuman accused Ablakwa of failing to address potential conflicts of interest and the financial implications of the arrangement.
Mr Essuman pointed out that Ablakwa, who was a vocal critic of Akufo-Addo’s use of private jets, has not raised similar concerns now that President Mahama frequently flies with Dzata Airlines, owned by his brother, Ibrahim Mahama.

“Dzata Airlines continues to transport the President during his official travels. Yet, my brother, Hon. @S_OkudzetoAblak, remains silent regarding the costs to the nation and issues of conflict of interest, particularly in his new role as Foreign Minister,” he stated.
He further suggested that Ablakwa’s past criticisms of government spending on private flights were inconsistent with his current silence on the matter.
His remarks implied that those who once condemned similar actions under the previous government should apply the same scrutiny to the current administration.
“Indeed, we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Lord, please forgive us,” Mr Essuman added.
His comments have sparked debate over whether the same level of accountability and transparency Ablakwa once demanded from the previous administration should now be applied to Mahama’s government.
It remains to be seen whether the Foreign Affairs Minister will respond to these allegations or clarify his position on the matter.
