President John Dramani Mahama visited the site of a devastating fire outbreak at Adum-Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, where an early morning blaze destroyed multiple shops and properties.
The President, who was in the region for a separate engagement, made an unscheduled stop to assess the extent of the destruction and express solidarity with affected traders.

The fire, which erupted in the early hours of Friday, March 21, ravaged shops housed in two-storey buildings in the bustling commercial hub.
The incident occurred at the well-known Blue Light arena, near Hello FM, and quickly spread, despite efforts by firefighters to bring it under control.

Briefing the former president, officials from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) highlighted the challenges they faced in containing the inferno.

They explained that the congested layout of the market hindered firefighting efforts, resulting in extensive damage to goods and structures.

President Mahama expressed his concern over the incident and sympathised with the affected business owners, acknowledging the economic impact of the disaster.

He assured them that appropriate measures would be taken to support those who had suffered losses.
