Ghanaian gospel musician GodsNation has recounted how he got saved from substance abuse and his involvement in black magic.
Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, he said his determination for getting rich through whichever means, landed him at shrines.
According to him, even though he got some money through the help of spiritualists, he lost all his fortunes later.
"It started with temptations. I started falling sick, and I went to the hospital. They checked and there was nothing. I did a couple of tests, I even did for HIV. I couldn't sleep, so they gave me some small pills. If I take the pills, I can sleep like three hours and I feel like I've slept for like eight hours,” he said while explaining what he went through after he withdrew from all ungodly acts.
GodsNation also shared his experience with seeking power and validation through Freemasonry.
“There's a place in Accra, the Freemason Lodge. We went there with my friend and I was like, I want to join. I met a security man. I said, oh, I want to join this thing and he advised me. So the level that I wanted to go ‘koraa no’ sometimes I say that, If Satan is real, I wanted to see him face to face then I come and tell people that, oh, ‘ebe true Satan dey. Because I was like seriously crazy, whatever it would take me, I'll make it,” he said.
Talking about his involvement in drug use, he mentioned how he almost run mad after smoking a stick of cigarette one day.
“So what happened was that it was in April right, and then one of our guys cashed out block, wey he say make we go Titanic Beach. So normally me, I could combine three cigarettes at a time and smoke. Because when we went to Togo, yeah, we ordered for fig and they brought it and when I pulled, I was like, it is very light.
So I combined three wey I light am wey I smoke. Wey me I dey smoke cigar, I dey smoke weed. So smoking no be anything give me. But that particular day, I ordered for beer, wey I ordered for a pack of cigarettes. And I started smoking just one stick and I felt like, ah, I dey go mad. Something was saying to me, 'take off your clothes and run'. I was like, ah, I sure say the boys take me pass somewhere, put something in my beer because streets wey we all dey street,” he said in pidgin English.
He continued, “so I went straight home and when I go home, I told my mom, like, this is what I'm feeling. And then she said to me, said so she prayed for me. Anytime I'm going through something like spiritual, something that is overwhelming, I just talked to my mom, she prayed for me,” he said.
He said his mother was the one that prayed for him anytime he was overwhelmed. He got his salvation through a prophet who ministered to his mum to advise him to stop visiting shrines or else he would die.
In the meantime, GodsNation has released a song titled, ‘Only God’ which he explained signified God’s redemption in his life.
