The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, has announced plans for an ambitious road infrastructure project dubbed the Tamale Outer Ring Road, which is expected to boost economic activities and ease vehicular movement in and around the Tamale metropolis.
Speaking at the Gbewa Palace during a courtesy call on the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II, on the morning of Monday, 14 April, Mr Agbodza revealed that President John Mahama is seriously considering the project as part of his broader vision to build lasting and improved road networks across the country.
The Minister, who was in the region as part of an inspection tour with his team of engineers, stated that the visit was aimed at gathering firsthand information on selected priority road projects to inform strategic decisions.

Among the projects visited were the Daka Bridge at Yendi, the Tamale-Yendi-Tatale road, and the construction of a 60-metre span Bailey Bridge at Wapuli along the Saboba road corridor.
The Yaa Naa commended the government's renewed focus on infrastructure through the “Big Push” initiative, describing it as a significant step towards national transformation.

He urged the Minister to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective and timely delivery of quality road infrastructure across the country.

In a show of goodwill, Mr Agbodza also made a personal donation of 500 bags of cement towards the ongoing construction of the new Gbewa Palace, further strengthening the relationship between the Ministry and the traditional authorities in the region.
