The Eastern, Volta & Oti Regional branch of the Association of Ghana Industries has hinted at launching a website and a fund to fuel a campaign to promote the tourism sector of the Volta Region.
The Fund is expected to serve as a pool of resources - money and logistics - to project the various tourist sites in the region and the culture and heritage of the Ewe ethnic groups.
In an interview with Myjoyonline.con, the Regional Treasurer of the AGI, Dela Gbeve disclosed that the initiative is geared towards achieving an objective of the Volta Trade and Investment Programme, which seeks to build support for the region's tourism sector.
"Volta’s unique landscape is considered the most appropriate microcosm of Ghana. The Region is blessed with a wide array of tourism sites and aims to sell to the outside world through the Volta Trade and Investment Programme. We are optimistic this will help promote socio-economic growth, thereby positively affecting the lives of people in the region”, he said.
Mr. Gbeve added that the website is carefully designed to host a catalogue of tourist sites, among others, which would be launched soon, to serve as a medium to market Volta’s unique landscape considered the most appropriate microcosm of Ghana’a outlook to tourists from across the world.
“The website which will be launched later on 30th April will showcase the various tourism attractions of the region in efforts aimed at boosting the region's tourism potential”, he explained.
Mr. Gbeve extended an invitation to stakeholders to support the initiative, which continues to project the region as an attractive tourism hot spot in Ghana “through the visit Volta Experience Ghana campaign.”
