Casper Kampoli, a representative of the National Democratic Congress' communication team has said that the Feed Ghana project launched by President John Mahama will solve Ghana’s food problem.
Speaking to Joy Prime’s Roselyn Felli on the Prime Morning show, he stated that the programme will transform Ghana’s economy through agriculture.
“The Feed Ghana programme is a foundation for Ghana’s agenda to make agriculture a vehicle that would transform the economy. The larger theme is 'Agriculture for Economic Transformation' and the Feed Ghana programme is the foundation under which these initiatives would be anchored, he said.
He reiterated that the government's agenda for this year is to make sure agriculture contributes significantly to economic growth.
Mr. Casper urged Ghana to participate in the vegetable development project, one of the initiatives under the project. He emphasized that one does not need a vast land to partake in the initiative.
Delving into smart agriculture which seems to create farmer service centers, Mr. Casper stated that farmers would be provided with the necessary tools and equipment needed to help them farm.
He also stated that unlike the Planting for Food and Jobs programme which did not have actionable plans to make agriculture contribute significantly to the economy, the Feed Ghana project has nine components that would help significantly contribute to the economy.
As a way of solving issues regarding the school feeding program, Mr. Casper said the government would take steps through institutional farms to support senior high schools in cultivating one food crop.
