The Member of Parliament for Binduri Constituency has strongly condemned the recent spate of violent attacks in the area, describing the incidents as “brutal” and “unacceptable.”
In a statement issued following the latest attack at Benguri, which claimed the lives of a mother and her four children, the MP expressed deep sorrow and called for immediate action to end the hostilities that have engulfed parts of the Binduri Constituency.
“I am deeply saddened by the recent wave of attacks in the Binduri Constituency, which have claimed innocent lives and caused significant property damage. These brutal assaults, with the latest one in Benguri involving the slaying of a mother and her four children, are unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms.”
The MP extended condolences to the bereaved families and assured constituents that efforts are underway in collaboration with the relevant authorities to restore calm and bring the perpetrators to justice. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement.
“I commend the military for their professional conduct and diligence in making arrests and seizing arms and ammunition believed to be connected to the incident,” he noted, while also encouraging the continuation of efforts to apprehend all individuals involved.
However, the MP expressed concern over reports of the military seizing and burning motorbikes in the course of operations. He urged the security agencies to handle such seizures with due process.
“I condemn the act of seizing and burning of motorbikes by the military,” he said. “Seized motorbikes should be kept in the custody of security agencies, and due processes regarding the ban on motorbike riding must be followed.”
The Binduri lawmaker concluded by reaffirming his commitment to working with all stakeholders to restore lasting peace in the constituency and the broader Kusaug area.
