Ghana's U-15 girls enjoyed a winning start to their 2025 African Schools Football Championship on Wednesday, April 23.
The Black Damsels picked up a 1-0 win in their opening Group A fixture of the competition at the University of Ghana Stadium as Jennifer Awuku scored the only goal of the game.
Despite their large spell of possession in the early part of the game, Joyce Boatey-Agyei's girls were unable to create too many chances.
The team also fluffed their lines on the few occasions they breached the Moroccan defence, with the game going into the break at 0-0. The match, like all in the tournament, was played over two 20-minute halves.
However, Awuku found the opening in the second half after connecting with a low cross into the box, which beat the Moroccan goalkeeper to give Ghana the lead.
It was also a moment to cherish for Ghana as they picked their first win in their first game in the tournament since its inception in 2023.
The U-15 girls face Benin and Malawi in their next group games on Thursday, April 24, looking to secure a place in the semifinals of the competition.
Good strides for Team Ghana in their first-ever CAF African Schools Football Championship appearance.
