Ghana U-15 head coach Yaw Preko has heaped praise on rising star John Andoh, comparing the young winger to Brazilian superstar Neymar—if given the right guidance and development.
Andoh stole the spotlight on the opening day of the 2025 African Schools Football Championship, scoring a brilliant brace to lead Ghana to a 2-0 victory over Uganda at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The left winger found the net in both halves, securing all three points for the hosts.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Preko was full of admiration for the youngster’s performance, describing him as a “gem” and emphasizing the need to nurture his raw talent.
"That guy is a gem," Preko said.
"We have to keep an eye on him. When we went to Israel, everyone was talking about him. I've known him since I took over the U-15s. The first time I saw him at a Justify (talent identification) match, he was even smaller than he is now. But his speed—natural speed—stood out, and he could play on both flanks."
"What I have seen in this boy with his speed, if he gets the right people to handle him and the right steps to take, trust me, we might have our own version of Brazilian Neymar."
Andoh was part of the Preko Ghana U-15 team that won the Mondialito Promise tournament in Israel earlier this year.
