The Second Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Kurt Okraku, believes the potential of growing the sport on the continent is 'limitless.'
Football on the continent is heading towards a positive trajectory with the recent performances of teams in Africa and global competitions, including Morocco's recent performance at the last FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) was one that also received great reviews from people on the continent and away from the continent, with many praising CAF for putting together 'one of the best' tournaments in recent times. '
According to Okraku, there is even potential for more, and that is what he and the newly elected CAF Executives would be looking to do.
"I think the potential is massive. There has been a complete reorganisation of our international competitions (AFCON especially), increased investments by CAF and an enhanced club licensing regime by CAF," he told Asempa FM.
"I think the potential to grow the African game is limitless. That’s why we need to support Dr. Motsepe to finish what he has started."
Kurt has now joined Faouzi Lekjaa, who will serve as the First Vice President, replacing Senegal FA President Augustine Senghor, while Kurt Okraku takes over from Ahmed Yahya.
His elevation was confirmed on Saturday, April 26, 2025, by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe during a press conference in Accra.
