The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Tano South in the Ahafo Region, Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, has entreated workers in the area to perform their duties with unity, peace, and a sense of purpose to drive sustainable development.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Bechem to mark this year's May Day celebration, Mr Frimpong eulogised workers for their hard work, dedication, and contributions, especially those in the Tano South municipality.
On the theme for this year's Workers' Day celebration, "Reclaiming the Civic Space in the midst of
economic hardship", he praised the efforts of workers who drive progress and development in society.
May Day, also known as International Workers' Day (IWD), is celebrated to honour the working class and commemorate their struggles for fair wages and better working conditions.

It's a day to recognise the contributions of workers and advocate for their rights. The celebration has roots in both ancient spring festivals and the labour movement, particularly the fight for an eight-hour workday.
The celebration serves not only as a platform to recognise the dedication and resilience of Ghanaian workers but also to highlight ongoing labour issues and foster dialogue between the government and labour organisations.
"On this special occasion of Workers’ Day, on behalf of the municipality, I extend my heartfelt wishes to all hardworking individuals across the nation, especially Tano South", Mr Frimpong stated.
He re-echoed the dedication, resilience, and the vital contributions workers in the municipality make each day to build their communities and the nation.
"Your tireless efforts are the backbone of our progress and a symbol of hope for a brighter future.
"As your MCE, I commend your resilience and commitment. Let's continue working together for a brighter and more prosperous future. Your labour is not in vain, it is deeply appreciated," he assured.
