The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) says an unstable power supply is affecting its operations in the Volta Region.
The company explains that due to power outages and low voltages, three treatment plants in the region are unable to produce and supply water to clients.
A communique signed by the Volta Regional Production Manager, Ransford Nii Djan Amoo, stated that treatment plants at Kpando and Agordome experienced a power phase loss and low current, respectively, leading to a temporary halt in production on 3rd May, 2025.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Kpando and Sogakofe districts swiftly moved in to resolve the challenge and restore supply, but the challenges persist.
He added that production has since resumed at the two treatments, acknowledging the efforts of ECG.
He, however, indicated that production at the Kpeve Water Treatment Plant started experiencing unbalanced voltage on 2nd May 2025 at 1600 hrs, hence was unable to power the machine to treat water for supply.
“Unfortunately, the Kpeve WT is currently facing unbalanced phase voltages since yesterday, 2nd May 2025, at 1600 hrs.
“ECG personnel are working diligently to address this issue, and normal production will resume immediately upon resolution,” he said.
He concluded that “GWL apologises for the inconvenience caused and assures the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure uninterrupted water supply. Updates will be provided regularly.”
