The race for continental glory and a ticket to the FIFA U-20 World Cup is heating up as the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations enters its decisive knockout phase.
The group stage wrapped up on 9 May 2025, with Egypt and South Africa clinching the final two spots in the quarter-finals.
Egypt, the host nation, edged Tanzania 1-0 in a tightly contested affair to confirm their progression, while South Africa earned a crucial 1-1 draw against Zambia, enough to see the Amajita through on goal difference.
They complete an elite eight that features defending champions Senegal, four-time winners Ghana, tournament debutants Sierra Leone, as well as Nigeria, Tunisia, and Morocco.
Beyond the pursuit of the African crown, the stakes are significantly higher—semi-final qualification guarantees a place at the FIFA U-20 World Cup later this year in Chile.
All quarter-final matches will be played on 12 May 2025, with venues split between Suez and Cairo.
