President John Mahama has announced that Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is set to return to Ghana after making a full recovery from a recent illness.
Speaking during his 'Thank You Tour' in Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region, on Friday, May 16, President Mahama expressed his relief and gratitude for the Vice President’s improved health.
He noted that Prof Opoku-Agyemang is ready to resume her official duties.

“I’m happy to state that I spoke to her yesterday morning, and she will be back in the country before the end of next week. By God’s grace, she is fully recovered and she’s going to come and go back to her duties,” he said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was reported to have suffered a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, 2025, and sought medical attention at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the following day.
Following medical advice, she began a three-week medical leave on April 7, 2025, and travelled abroad for further treatment as a precautionary measure to ensure a full recovery.
The Vice President's return is expected to bring renewed momentum to government business, as she resumes her responsibilities after a period of rest and recuperation.
