Forward Kwame Opoku was on target twice to help Asante Kotoko thrash Dreams FC 4-1 in a week 31 fixture of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Striker Albert Amoah had already given the Porcupines a 15th-minute lead before Opoku reacted quickly to poke home Dauda Saka's cross in the 40th minute.
Kotoko went into the break with a 2-0 lead but returned without Amoah, who was withdrawn at halftime for Elvis Kyei Baffour after picking up a knock.
The reshuffle seemed to have a knock-on effect, as Dreams needed just seven minutes in the second half to pull one back through Jonathan Nemorden.
However, just five minutes after conceding, Opoku restored the two-goal advantage with a brilliant finish — his brace and ninth goal of the season.
Substitute Fernando added the fourth to put the icing on the cake in the 71st minute.
It was a bittersweet win for coach Abdulai Karim, who had to beat his former club Dreams FC to extend Kotoko's unbeaten run to four matches, including three victories.
The victory boosts Kotoko's title charge, as the Porcupines are now just two points behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.
Meanwhile, the defeat ends the Still Believe lads' three-game unbeaten run.
They now sit ninth on the league table with three matches remaining.
Up next, Kotoko face a crucial encounter against Gold Stars, while Dreams take on Berekum Chelsea.
