An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced two men to three months’ imprisonment each for their involvement in the theft of a television set at Nungua, Accra.
Isaac Bortey, alias Brown, a 28-year-old factory hand, was convicted of unlawful entry and theft, while David Abu Bonnah, a 52-year-old businessman, was sentenced for dishonestly receiving the stolen television.
Both men pleaded guilty with explanation, but the court, presided over by Mrs. Susan Edufful, ruled that their explanations did not exonerate them and therefore entered a guilty plea on their behalf.
The court cautioned the convicts to be of good behaviour.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lawrence Kofi Anane, leading the prosecution, stated that the complainant, a security officer, resides at Nungua in the Greater Accra Region.
On May 17, 2025, at about 0316 hours, Bortey unlawfully entered the complainant’s premises without the knowledge of a witness and caretaker, Albert Alabi Tsokosi, who was in an adjoining room.
Bortey stole a black Samsung television affixed to the wall.
On May 28, 2025, the complainant, assisted by a witness, Ebenezer Badu, apprehended Bortey and handed him over to the police for investigations.
During interrogation, Bortey admitted to the offence and identified Bonnah as the receiver of the stolen television.
On May 30, 2025, a team of investigators, accompanied by Bortey, proceeded to Nungua, where Bonnah was arrested in possession of the stolen Samsung television.
Both convicts are serving their sentences.
