The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced a postponement of the implementation of the Tariff Interpretation Order, which was intended to operationalise aspects of the Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1141).
The decision follows a directive from the Minister of Finance, issued after stakeholder consultations.
The deferred measure would have increased the Energy Sector Shortfall and Debt Repayment Levy (ESSDRL) on selected petroleum products starting June 16, 2025.

A new implementation date will be announced later.
In an official statement signed by the Commissioner-General of the GRA, Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the Authority directed all ports and stations, as well as relevant internal and external stakeholders, to take note of the postponement.
The directive has been communicated to the Commissioner of Customs, sector commanders, technical service heads, and key industry players including the Managing Director of Ghana Link Network Services, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), and the Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMCs).
The public is advised to await further communication regarding the new effective date.
