Ghana's delegation to the 2025 Pan African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO) achieved the nation's best-ever results at the competition held June 11-18 in Gaborone, Botswana.
The six-member team earned three silver medals and one bronze, placing Ghana ninth overall among 23 participating African countries.
The medalists included:
- Brimpong Addai Akosah (Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School) - Silver
- Stephen Kofi Apemah-Baah (Opoku Ware School) - Silver
- Lydia Elikplim Yawa Adanuty (Wesley Girls' High School) - Silver in Girls Category and Bronze

Other team members were Albert Owusu Boakye (Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School), Laura Assan-Donkoh (Wesley Girls' High School), and Ariel Amoonoowa Asman (Ghana Christian International High School).
The students participated in rigorous mathematical problem-solving competitions alongside over 250 participants from across Africa. During the event, they also visited cultural sites including Botswana's Three Chiefs Monument and National Museum.
The MISE Foundation-Ghana, official franchise holders for PAMO in Ghana, organized the team with support from the Ghana Olympiad Academy. Coaching was provided by Abraham Ehiabhi Avienloba, with coordination by Abel Ohene Acquaye of ATDP.
This year's results mark a significant improvement over Ghana's previous performances at the continental mathematics competition. The team's achievement demonstrates the growing strength of Ghana's mathematics education and the potential of its young scholars
