Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Adentan constituency, Mr Doku Ebenezer, has declared that the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) strongest contender to face the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on JoyNews' The Pulse, Mr Doku acknowledged that the NDC is likely to present a formidable candidate in the next elections. He therefore stressed the need for the NPP to choose a flagbearer who offers the greatest electoral advantage.
"Mind you, the NDC will be having a very good candidate, and so once that is the case, we will need a face that has been there before and marketed before, and that gives the NPP an advantage over the NDC in the next election."
Mr Ebenezer's comments add to the growing wave of endorsements for the former Vice President from some sections of the NPP.
He noted that all other aspirants are good, but the former Vice President will offer a better advantage over the NDC due to his strong presence in the political space over the past years.
According to him, the majority of former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives have already considered Dr Bawumia as the frontrunner in the party’s flagbearer race, ahead of their primary in January 2026.
