Former Vice President and 2024 NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid glowing tribute to former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for their immense service to the nation, under the banner of the NPP.
Speaking to NPP faithful at the 2025 NPP National Delegates Conference in Accra, Dr. Bawumia urged members of the party to be proud of the achievements of the two Presidents, adding that their "monumental and transformative" achievements will "stand the test of time."
"In Governance there are ups and downs. Through the President J.A. Kufuor and President Nana Akufo Addo periods we succeeded at many and things with monumental and transformational achievements," Dr. Bawumia said.
"Their achievements will stand the test of time," he added.
President Kufuor, who led Ghana between 2001 and 2009, is credited with transforming the country, including boosting the private, delivering key infrastructure as well as implementing transformative social policies including the NHIS, free maternity, school feeding among many others.
On his part, President Akufo-Addo, who lest Ghana from 2017 and 2024, undertook an ambitious industrialiastikn and agriculture drive, expanded road and health infrastructure, as well as implemented the biggest social intervention programme in the history of the country, the Free Senior High School policy, which is giving free senior secondary education to millions of children across the country.
