Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has been awarded a prestigious Certificate of Honour by the Africa Development Council (ADC) as the "Most Dynamic Minister" for the second quarter of 2025 in the category of Global Diplomacy.
The accolade was presented during a short ceremony at the ADC's secretariat in Accra on Monday, July 28.
The Africa Development Council, an industrial revolutionary think tank, used the occasion not only to recognise Mr Ablakwa's diplomatic prowess but also to acknowledge Ghana's significant economic strides under the presidency of John Dramani Mahama.
During the ceremony, the Council hinted at ambitious plans for future collaboration with Ghana under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Among the key initiatives discussed were:
- Artificial Intelligence Telemedicine & Mobile Hospital: The ADC's Russian Mission in Moscow is reportedly far advanced in plans to bring cutting-edge AI-powered telemedicine and mobile hospital solutions to Ghana. This initiative aims to bolster the government's "Mahama-Care" agenda, potentially revolutionizing healthcare access in remote and underserved areas across the country. This aligns with Ghana's ongoing efforts to leverage technology for improved health outcomes, particularly in strengthening primary healthcare and specialist access.
- Agricultural Equipment Assembling Units: The Council also revealed intentions to establish agricultural equipment assembling units in Ghana. This move is expected to significantly aid the government's "Feed Ghana" and "Agricultural Mechanization Centre" initiatives, boosting local food production, increasing efficiency for farmers, and creating employment opportunities in the agricultural sector, which remains a cornerstone of Ghana's economy.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Ablakwa expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged his commitment to collaborating with the ADC to achieve its objectives.
"I pledge to collaborate with the ADC to achieve its objectives," he stated, signalling a strong willingness to foster these new partnerships for national development.
The Africa Development Council has instituted a "Continental Good Governance Awards Scheme" covering all 55 countries across Africa.
This scheme aims to fast-track the industrial revolution on the continent by recognising excellence in governance across the presidency, parliament, judiciary, and CEOs, as well as achievements within the private sector.
The ceremony was attended by key figures from the Africa Development Council, including:
- Ing. Dr. Bright Atsu Sogbey, President, Africa Development Council (ADC)
- Mr. Timothy Gobah, Head of Protocols, ADC
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Kwaku Addai, Director, Foreign Affairs & Regional Cooperation, ADC
- Mr. Cletus Ahadzie, Director, Committee on Industry, Science & Technology, ADC
- Mr. Ernest Apetsi, Executive Secretary, ADC
This award for Mr Ablakwa highlights Ghana's growing prominence in global diplomacy and signals promising new avenues for international partnerships aimed at boosting the nation's healthcare and agricultural sectors.
