The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has paid glowing tribute to the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, hailing him as “utterly fearless” and far more than a political strategist, while acknowledging his immense contributions to both the party and the nation.
Delivering the eulogy on behalf of the NDC at an interdenominational state funeral on Friday, August 15, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey described Dr Omane Boamah as a man whose energy and vision invigorated the party’s electoral campaigns and enhanced the training of polling agents across the country.
Dr Omane Boamah was among eight individuals who lost their lives in the 6 August military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

The tragedy also claimed the lives of Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East; NDC Vice Chairman Dr Samuel Sarpong; and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
The fallen crew members were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Mr Kwetey noted that Dr Omane Boamah’s organisational skills, combined with his fearless defence of the party’s ideals, had left an indelible mark on the NDC’s operations, adding that his absence would be deeply felt in the years ahead.
