Mohammed Kudus made an instant impact on his Premier League debut for Tottenham Hotspur, providing two assists in their opening-day victory over Burnley.
The Ghanaian midfielder, who joined Tottenham this summer, looked sharp and full of confidence as he helped Thomas Frank’s side begin the campaign on a strong note.
Kudus, deployed in an advanced role on the right flank wasted little time showing why Tottenham were so eager to secure his signature. His first assist came midway through the first half when he cleverly picked out the run of Richarlison, who slotted home to open the scoring.
The second assist, which came in the second half, was a replicate of his initial set up as Kudus picked out Richarlison once again in the 18-yard box with a right-footed cross.
The Brazilian finished off in acrobatic style to double the lead for the home side.
The 24-year-old’s energy, creativity and directness drew loud applause from the home supporters, who will be encouraged by his seamless adaptation to squad.
Just as the game seemed to be heading for just the two goals, Brennan Johnson turned up to add to it and make it 3-0 for Tottenham.
For Kudus, this debut could hardly have gone better. For Spurs, it was a statement start to the season, with their new signing already hitting the ground running.
