The 2025 JoySports Invitational Tournament kicked off in spectacular fashion at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, drawing 50 corporate institutions into a vibrant showcase of athleticism, teamwork, and camaraderie.

The event opened with a 5km health walk, led by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, who was joined by musician Kwabena Kwabena, Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency Kofi Okyere Darko, African Paralympic President Samson Deen, and other dignitaries.

The walk set the tone for a day that blended fitness, fun, and fierce competition.

In his remarks, the Chief of Staff encouraged Ghanaians to embrace sports as a way of life.

“We need to inculcate the habit of engaging in lots of sporting activities. The easiest which I like is football and so we want to encourage everybody, in your neighbourhood, towns and schools, try as much as possible to work out so that you will have a healthy body. When we have a healthy body, as a country, we will save money on medications,” he said.

“So on this occasion, I wish you all well, I wish the entire nation well, and everything we do becomes successful and Ghana shall rise again.”

He later performed the ceremonial kickoff to officially launch the football competition, the centrepiece of the tournament.

But it was not all about football. The stadium buzzed with action across 15 sporting disciplines, including volleyball, basketball, swimming, lawn tennis, table tennis, chess, draughts, scrabble and e-sports.

Lighter contests such as the tug of peace, spoon race, and arm wrestling drew laughter and loud cheers, reminding participants that the Invitational is as much about fun as it is about fitness.

A crowd favourite was the CEO’s Penalty Shootout, where some of Ghana’s top executives swapped their boardroom suits for football boots.

The packed stands roared as CEOs showed off surprising football skills, proving that competition knows no titles.

With its mix of health, sport, and entertainment, the JoySports Invitational Tournament 2025 has become a flagship event on Ghana’s corporate calendar, fostering wellness, networking, and unity.
