The chiefs and residents of Twenease-Sofoase in the Ashanti Region have raised concerns over the increasing use of firearms by some youth in the community, a situation that has created fear and panic among residents.
Their concerns are linked to an ongoing chieftaincy dispute in the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipality.
According to them, some young men brandishing guns often cause destruction at public gatherings, including weddings and funerals, posing a serious threat to lives.

"My children and grandchildren refuse to run errands for me when I send them to buy something, stating that they are afraid of these guys with firearms," a 90-year-old woman highlighted.
According to residents, such incidents are hindering the development of the community. They are appealing to the security agencies and the Asantehene to intervene in the traditional dispute to help restore peace.
They expressed fear that the situation could escalate into a full-blown communal clash if not addressed promptly, and called on the Ghana Police Service to intensify investigations to restore calm.
Odiatuo Obrempong Akwasi Ahuoyaa Ababio, Essumaja Tuntuhene and Twenease-Sofoasehene made a passionate appeal to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, Nana Juaben Manhene, and the security services to step up security in the community.
He further revealed that the actions of the youth have stalled development, as people are no longer interested in investing in the community.
"If measures are not put in place for peace to prevail, we are going to retaliate," he stated.
