The Ghana Football Association has described midfielder Thomas Partey as “in top shape” and “in the right frame of mind” for Ghana’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Despite reports suggesting his possible exclusion following his sexual assault case, Otto Addo named the former Arsenal man in his 24-man squad for the imminent encounters.
The midfielder is scheduled to appear in court in London on September 2, having been charged with rape against two women and sexual assault against a third.
That date falls just two days before Ghana travel to face Chad in their matchday seven encounter.
“He is in the right frame of mind,” Henry said in an interview with Asempa FM.
“He is in top shape and so we think that, being a senior player and with his experience, and what he brings to the table, we will need him in these two matches. He is aware [of the court date] but he can come and be part of the team.”
The Black Stars will travel to N’Djamena to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4, before returning home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
Ghana currently lead Group I after six matches and are pushing for a fifth appearance at the World Cup.
Partey, who recently joined Villarreal on a two-year deal, made his second appearance for the club when he came off the bench in their 5-0 victory over Girona.
