The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that this year’s school placement exercise will officially commence on 17th September, 2025, following the release of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) provisional results.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, 27th August, the Director-General of GES, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, assured parents, candidates, and stakeholders of a smooth, transparent, and error-free placement process.
Pre-Placement Verification
To minimise errors, GES has introduced a pre-placement review window from 1st to 8th September, 2025, allowing candidates to verify their personal and school selection details, including gender, school codes, and programme codes, via the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal:www.cssps.gov.gh.
“In order to reduce the errors associated with school placement, candidates will have the opportunity to review the entries they have made online,” Prof. Davis stated, adding that an explainer video will guide parents and guardians through the process.
Reporting Date for Students
Students successfully placed will be required to report to their respective schools between 18th and 20th October, 2025 to commence the academic year.
Warning Against Placement Fraud
Prof. Davis issued a stern warning to parents and candidates against engaging middlemen or making payments to influence placements.
“The placement process is strictly merit-based. No one should pay anyone to secure a school for their child. We will work with security agencies to deal with perpetrators of such fraudulent activities,” he cautioned.
The GES emphasized that all stakeholders should remain vigilant and rely only on official channels for information regarding the placement process.
