The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Mr Sulemana Braimah, has predicted victory for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) upcoming flagbearer primaries.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Braimah noted that the widespread support Dr Bawumia enjoys among former government officials places him ahead of his competitors in the internal contest.
“I think Bawumia is going to win the NPP flagbearer primaries because former appointees, Ministers and MMDCEs have all declared their support for him,” he stated.
He explained that such endorsements from influential figures within the party carry significant weight and could prove decisive in swaying delegates.
According to him, the backing of past ministers and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives suggests that Dr Bawumia has already consolidated much of the party’s internal structures.
Mr Braimah, however, noted that while the former Vice President is the frontrunner, the race is not entirely without competition, as other aspirants are also working hard to convince delegates ahead of the vote.
