A 45-year-old driver suspected of killing his wife has been remanded into police custody by the Asante Akropong District Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District.
The plea of the suspect, Albert Cobbina, was not taken, and he is expected to reappear before the court, presided over by Emmanuel Wiafe Adu, on September 15, 2025.
Police Chief Inspector David Kwabi told the court that Cobbina and his late wife, Grace Asantewaa, lived at Fankyenebra near Santasi in the Kumasi metropolis.
On August 24, 2025, the suspect reportedly informed the Suntreso Police that his wife had been found dead in a pool of blood, with a kitchen knife lying beside her.
According to the prosecution, Cobbina claimed he had rushed his wife to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment, where she was pronounced dead on admission.
However, prosecutors said his statements to investigators were inconsistent. He was subsequently detained on suspicion of foul play.
Following preliminary investigations, he was charged in connection with his wife’s death and brought before the court while further investigations continue.
