The Amanfrom District Court in the Central region, presided over by Her Ladyship Emelia K. Abruquah, has remanded a 35-year-old man, identified as Bra Sammy, into police custody for one month.
Bra Sammy’s remand is over the alleged murder of his girlfriend, 26-year-old fashion designer Mabel Asantewaa.
The incident, which occurred last Wednesday at Kalabule Chinese near the Kasoa tollbooth in the Ga South Municipality, shocked residents.
According to police investigations, the suspect reportedly demanded sex from Mabel, who refused because she was on her menstrual cycle.
The disagreement allegedly escalated, leading to her tragic death.
Bra Sammy is said to have later ingested a poisonous substance in an apparent suicide attempt.
He was rushed to the hospital, and upon regaining consciousness, he led police to the crime scene and pointed out the knife allegedly used in the act.
He has since pleaded guilty in court and has been remanded to reappear on October 19, 2025.
