The University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho, in the Volta Region, has commissioned five modern facilities to enhance research and training of students.
The facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art logistics to provide training in the most advanced technology. With this, UHAS hopes to advance its contribution to transforming the country and the African continent’s health sector.
The facilities include an imaging stimulation laboratory, Zebrafish laboratory, a pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences laboratory, a dental clinic, and a counselling and wellness centre.

The Vice Chancellor of UHAS, Prof Lydia Aziato described the establishment of the facilities as a milestone in the history of the University, though it represents just a minute of its vision.
She said that the provision of the facilities would incorporate practical orientation into the training of the students, and provide public service.

She urged managers of the facilities to adopt high standards of maintenance and frequently update the technology with finance from their internally generated funds.

“So apart from ownership, apart from maintenance, there is also an upgrade. Upgrade on innovation, upgrade of technology”, she advised.
She acknowledged the various members of faculty who contributed in diverse ways to the fruition of the idea to take teaching and learning of healthcare a step higher in Ghana.
Prof Aziato reiterated a call for support and sponsorship to provide the University with logistics and other facilities towards producing world-class health professionals.

UHAS Bulletin
The Registrar of UHAS, Ms. Yaa Amankwaa Opuni announced the establishment of the UHAS Bulletin Magazine, which she said would be the University's mouthpiece.
She said the magazine which would be issued monthly would contain activities, programmes, administrative decisions, governance, institutional performance, awards, milestones and other issues related to the University.

“We are communicating to you news from the schools and institutes, activities and highlights, alumni updates among others”, she said.
