President John Mahama has hosted a high-level engagement with major civil society organisations (CSOs) at the Jubilee House to deliberate on lasting solutions to Ghana’s illegal mining menace, popularly known as galamsey.

The meeting brought together senior government officials and leading voices from civil society in what the presidency described as a platform for “frank and constructive discussions” on the environmental and social crisis caused by galamsey.

The dialogue harnessed “collective expertise and perspectives” from stakeholders as the government seeks to balance resource extraction with environmental sustainability and community livelihoods.
