Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is in the United States to participate in the 2025 Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, a flagship global event organised by the World Food Prize Foundation.
The annual dialogue, held in Des Moines, Iowa, brings together global leaders, policymakers, scientists, and innovators to discuss strategies for addressing world hunger and strengthening global food systems.
A statement released by her office and signed by Ama Pratt, Press Secretary and Spokesperson at the Vice President’s Office, indicates that Professor Opoku-Agyemang will deliver a keynote address highlighting Ghana’s progress and strategic interventions in food security, sustainable agriculture, and the promotion of women and youth participation in agribusiness.
The statement further notes that the Vice President will hold bilateral meetings with development partners to explore avenues for collaboration in agricultural innovation, technology transfer, and climate-smart farming.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang will also share Ghana’s experiences and priorities in building a resilient and inclusive agricultural economy when she joins a high-level roundtable discussion on innovation and agricultural transformation.
Her participation in the Dialogue underscores Ghana’s unwavering commitment to global food security and reaffirms the country’s growing role as a key voice in Africa’s agricultural transformation.
It also highlights Ghana’s partnership with international stakeholders to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 – Zero Hunger, and advance national efforts to build resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems that empower farmers and promote rural development.
