The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects, Atame Elijah and Nasiru Yakubu, in connection with a violent armed robbery attack on a gold merchant at Adumasa Market in the Ashanti Region.
The incident, which occurred on October 20, 2025, left six people injured, including the gold merchant and five others.
The robbers reportedly fled the scene with an unspecified quantity of gold and cash, abandoning an assault rifle, four rounds of live ammunition, and a motorbike as they made their escape.
In a swift response, the Police, with support from community members and the assemblyman for Adumasa, launched a joint search operation that led to the arrest of the suspects from their hideouts.
A bag containing some gold and cash was recovered during the operation.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect.
The Police Command has commended the Adumasa community for their cooperation and assured the public of continued efforts to strengthen security and safety in the area.
