Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has reaffirmed his commitment to the team despite reports of a potential “big offer” ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Swedish tactician, appointed in February this year, guided Ghana to a third-place finish at the last edition of the continental tournament.
The 43-year-old, who replaced Nora Häuptle after her contract expired and she left to join Zambia, has now led the Queens to qualification for next year’s competition.
Ghana eased past Egypt 7–0 on aggregate to seal their place at the WAFCON.
When asked about the prospect of leaving for a more lucrative offer, Björkegren said: “No, I will not [leave when a bigger offer comes].
"I had 14 other offers when I signed for Ghana, and I didn’t tell the reason because I want to be here in Ghana.
"I think I can help the girls make a little bit of a difference, and together we are on the way to something really good. We already showed that in the summer. I am here to stay with the girls.”
Up next for Björkegren and his players is a high-profile international friendly against the Lionesses of England on December 2, 2025.
