The Dombo family has reaffirmed its steadfast support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia following the 2025 presidential election, describing him as a visionary leader whose integrity and resilience continue to inspire Ghanaians.
In a statement issued on October 31, 2025, and jointly signed by Tracy Rabiatu Dombo and Alexandra Dombo Tenadu, the family emphasised that their endorsement of Dr. Bawumia is rooted in merit, principle, and belief in his leadership—not tribal loyalty.
According to the statement, Dr. Bawumia’s calmness and clarity amid political and social challenges reflect the qualities of a true leader committed to Ghana’s progress.
“The level of composure and mental resilience Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia continues to show, especially in the face of challenges, is nothing short of remarkable. His calm, clarity, and grace under pressure are the markings of a true leader,” the statement read.
The Dombos also rejected claims suggesting that a northerner cannot lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing such views as divisive and contrary to the founding ideals of the Busia–Dombo political tradition, which is built on inclusion and merit.
“It’s not about tribal allegiance or sentimental loyalty; it’s about logic and what makes sense. To suggest that a northerner cannot and should not lead the New Patriotic Party is shortsighted and hypocritical,” the statement added.
The family expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s development agenda, noting that his vision focuses on long-term national transformation, innovation, and shared prosperity.
Dr. Bawumia’s plans are not about today’s applause but tomorrow’s inheritance. His ideas are built to shape a Ghana defined by innovation, dignity, and shared prosperity,” the statement emphasised.
As the NPP prepares for internal elections, the Dombo family urged delegates to prioritise integrity, intellect, and purpose over financial inducements, encouraging them to “resist the temptation of those who throw money at problems because they have no real solutions.”
The statement concluded with a call for unity and reflection, encouraging party members and all Ghanaians to support leaders who embody the values of the NPP tradition and the spirit of service to the nation.
