A horrific crash at the Lapaz main traffic light on the N1 Highway has left five people seriously injured after two motorcycles collided in the middle of traffic.
Eyewitnesses say one of the motorcycles, carrying a female passenger and travelling from Awoshie towards Achimota, allegedly ran a red light before colliding with another bike.
In the process, a pedestrian standing by the roadside was also struck.
Police quickly arrived at the scene to restore order and assisted in transporting the victims to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
The incident has reignited calls from traders and commuters for the government to construct a pedestrian overpass at the Lapaz junction, which they describe as a high-risk area.
Many believe such an overpass would prevent future accidents and enhance the safety of both motorists and pedestrians.
