Two people have died, while several others sustained injuries in a serious road accident on the Fodoa–Nadeso stretch of the Kumasi Highway in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 16, 2026, when a cargo vehicle collided with a long truck loaded with bottled water.

Speaking to Adom News, the Nkawkaw Municipal Fire Commander, Divisional Officer Grade Two (DO II) Samuel Mante, said the cargo vehicle with registration number WR 644-N reportedly developed a mechanical fault, resulting in the collision.
The impact of the crash claimed the lives of two occupants on the spot, while other victims sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw for emergency treatment.
Emergency personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and other security agencies responded swiftly to rescue trapped victims and clear the road.
DO II Samuel Mante urged drivers to strictly observe road safety measures, particularly when vehicles develop faults on highways.
“I urge drivers to strictly observe road safety measures, especially during vehicle breakdowns,” he said.
He advised motorists to immediately place warning triangles at appropriate distances to alert approaching drivers and prevent avoidable accidents.
The Police have commenced investigations into the cause of the crash.
