The 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards concluded in spectacular fashion at the Manhyia Palace on Friday, November 8, marking the first time the prestigious event has been held outside Accra.
The ceremony, staged under the distinguished patronage of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was a glittering celebration of media excellence and professionalism in Ghana.
The highlight of the evening came when Godwin Asedibe of TV3 was named 2024 Journalist of the Year, earning recognition for his outstanding contribution to journalism and public interest reporting.



Media powerhouse The Multimedia Group Limited also had a remarkable showing, taking home eight awards across various categories, further reinforcing its leadership and influence within Ghana’s media industry.


This year’s awards attracted a record 321 entries, a testament to the competitiveness of the contest and the vibrancy of the nation’s journalism sector.

The theme, “Safeguarding Ghana’s Future: The Role of the Media in Promoting Peace, Security and the Fight Against Galamsey,” underscored the critical part journalists play in shaping national discourse and advancing responsible governance.



The event drew an array of distinguished guests and dignitaries, including President John Dramani Mahama, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, and Mr Alex Apau Dadey, Executive Chairman of the KGL Group.
