A devastating fire has destroyed several shops at Odomase MTN Polease in the Sunyani West Municipal capital, leaving traders counting heavy losses.
According to Adom News Bono Regional Correspondent Christian Ofori Kumah, the fire reportedly began yesterday at around 4:50 p.m., engulfing four commercial structures, including an electrical appliances shop, a clothing shop, a container shop, and nearby stalls.
Preliminary assessments indicate that goods worth thousands of Ghana cedis were destroyed.
The Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly to the emergency, managing to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent buildings.
At the time of reporting, the precise cause of the fire remained unknown. Authorities have indicated that a full investigation will be conducted to establish the source of the outbreak.
Officials have urged residents and business operators to exercise heightened caution when handling electrical connections, gas cylinders, and other flammable materials, particularly as the dry season approaches, a period when fire incidents are more prevalent.
