Minister for the Interior Mohammed Muntaka has urged all internal security agencies to work collaboratively and fully utilise the newly inaugurated National Signals Bureau (NSB) regional command in Ho, describing the facility as a shared national security asset rather than an agency-specific installation.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Friday, December 5, the Minister said the expansion of the NSB’s regional presence reflects President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to decentralising national security operations and improving intelligence capabilities across the country.
Muntaka revealed that before the end of the year, additional NSB regional offices will be opened in Sunyani and Techiman to serve the Bono and Bono East Regions. Altogether, four new regional commands are expected to become operational, bringing surveillance and intelligence services closer to communities.
He described the Ho command as a major enhancement to intelligence gathering and security coordination in the Volta Region.
The centre is equipped with advanced monitoring technology and is fully integrated into both regional and national surveillance networks, enabling analysts to access real-time, comprehensive security feeds for faster decision-making.
“I urge all internal security operatives to collaborate and see this centre as one for all, not just for the National Signals Bureau,” Muntaka stressed, noting that improved information-sharing and joint operations are critical in responding to emerging threats.
The Minister also warned individuals who use digital platforms to spread fear and misinformation, cautioning that government now possesses enhanced capability to detect and trace such activities.
“To citizens who misuse technology and online platforms to create fear and panic, the time has come for you to stop. Stop, or we will come after you. We have what it takes to track, observe, and trace you,” he said.
