Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, has praised Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, for what he called his unprecedented payment of road contractors and service providers.
According to Mr Agbodza, Dr Forson has, within the last few months, disbursed more funds to contractors than any other finance minister in Ghana’s history.
Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, Mr Agbodza said the timely payments had accelerated road construction and maintenance projects across the country.
He emphasised that this level of financial commitment had a direct impact on project completion and efficiency in the transport sector.
Dr Ato Forson’s proactive approach, the Roads Minister noted, had helped reduce bottlenecks often caused by delayed funding.
“Dr Ato Forson has within the last few months, paid road contractors and service providers more than any other Finance Minister in history,” he said, stressing that such actions were vital for national development.
The Minister for Roads and Highways further pointed out that the increased funding had boosted contractor confidence and encouraged timely project delivery.
He suggested that this collaborative approach between the Finance Ministry and implementing agencies could serve as a model for other sectors.
Mr Agbodza concluded that the record payments reflected the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and supporting the private sector.
He urged continued efficiency and accountability to ensure that the investments translate into tangible results for citizens.
