Hundreds of delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday, January 11, thronged the Karaga Constituency in the Northern Region to welcome Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as he continued his campaign ahead of the party’s internal primaries.
Dr Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana and the NPP’s 2024 Presidential Candidate, is seeking re-election to lead the party into the 2028 General Elections and is currently touring the Northern Regions to engage party faithful.
The visit to Karaga, which is represented in Parliament by Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, the former Finance Minister, formed part of Dr Bawumia’s outreach to consolidate support among grassroots members and delegates.

Supporters lined the streets and gathered at the meeting grounds, chanting party songs and expressing confidence in Dr Bawumia’s leadership and vision for the party’s future.

Various party groups, including Electoral Area Coordinators, chairmen of polling stations speaking on behalf of polling station executives, as well as both old and newly elected constituency executives, came out to publicly declare their support for his candidature.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Amin Adam openly endorsed Dr Bawumia, describing him as a competent and principled leader capable of steering the NPP to victory.

He stressed that the support from Members of Parliament in the area was grounded in merit rather than loyalty alone.
“We are not supporting Dr Bawumia blindly,” Dr Amin Adam said. “We are supporting him based on competence, vision and integrity.”

Dr Bawumia, in his remarks, thanked the delegates and party supporters for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the NPP and building on its core values.

He noted that unity, credibility and a clear vision would be critical as the party prepares for the 2028 General Elections, urging delegates to remain focused and resolute in the months ahead.
