New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has rejected pre-election polls and forecasts indicating he might lose the party’s presidential primary on January 31.
Dr Adutwum stated in a Facebook post on Monday, January 19, that the only poll that counts is the one held on election day.
He said his engagements at the grassroots have reinforced his conviction that hope and determination, rather than statistics, shape people’s decisions.
“I have seen the polls. I have heard the commentaries. I have read the predictions. But my brothers and sisters, I believe in only one poll, the one that happens on election day, 31st January. History has taught us that Ghana is not moved by noise; Ghana is moved by truth, hard work, and conviction.
“When I walk through our communities, when I sit with teachers, parents, traders, students, and party faithful, I do not hear numbers; I hear hope,” he said.
He further emphasised that public sentiment cannot be captured by surveys.
“And hope cannot be measured by surveys. I remain calm, focused, and grateful. This journey is not about rankings; it is about readiness. On January 31st, it will not be analysts who decide; it will be the people, and I believe with every fibre of my being that victory will speak for itself,” he wrote.
He appealed to delegates to support his campaign by voting for him on election day.
Dr Adutwum will vie for the NPP flagbearership against former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Dr Bryan Acheampong, and former NPP General Secretary Ing Kwabena Agyepong.
