The National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has cautioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against pursuing a review of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Kpandai parliamentary election, describing such a move as costly and unlikely to yield meaningful gains.
Mr Vanderpuye said prolonged post-election litigation often drains time, financial resources and political capital, while offering little strategic benefit to political parties.
He noted that extended legal battles tend to weaken both candidates and parties, rather than strengthen their prospects in future electoral contests.
The former Minister for Youth and Sports stressed that unless there is compelling legal or factual justification, it would be wiser for the party to accept the court’s decision and refocus on internal reorganisation and long-term political strategy.
“Falling is not the end of your life. Sometimes it is better to go back, reflect, and come back again. I will urge them that if they think there is enough fact and evidence for them to be able to ask the Supreme Court to review their decision, then fine. But other than that, I think it will be a fruitless exercise,” he said in an interview with Channel One TV on Thursday, January 29.
His comments come amid indications from the NDC that it intends to seek a review of the apex court’s judgment after studying the certified true copy, insisting that the legal process surrounding the case is not yet concluded.
