A leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Nyama, has predicted a decisive victory for former Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.
In a Facebook post on Friday, January 30, Nyama said Dr Bawumia is poised to secure an overwhelming endorsement from delegates, projecting a result far above a simple majority.
“It is my prediction that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will have a landslide victory and it won’t be below 65 per cent and could go as high as 70 per cent,” he stated.
Nyama argued that the former Vice President’s performance in the race is likely to surpass his showing in the party’s 2023 contest, citing growing confidence among party members and delegates.
“He is going to do better than he did in 2023,” he added.
The comments add to increasing public confidence from party figures who believe Dr Bawumia has consolidated strong grassroots and national support ahead of the internal elections.
