Following the decisive victory of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary, former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has issued a warning to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), declaring that the NPP is "solid" and ready for the 2028 general elections.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with JoyNews at the NPP National Headquarters amidst jubilant celebrations on Saturday night, January 31, 2026, Dr. Amin Adam emphasised that the primary results have unified the party and set the stage for a rigorous national campaign.
Dr. Amin Adam noted that the overwhelming support shown by the delegates is a testament to the party's "readiness and willingness" to support Dr. Bawumia's leadership.
“You will see in the days ahead that this party [NPP] is solid, and we have three years to get our acts together, to put our acts together and face our opponents,” Dr. Amin Adam stated.
Addressing the opponents directly, the former Finance Minister added, “The NDC should beware. We are coming, and we are coming gallantly.”
The comments highlight the NPP's strategic focus on the 2028 general elections.
With Dr. Bawumia now officially the flagbearer-elect, party insiders say the next 36 months will be dedicated to winning back power through bold ideas and grassroots mobilisation.
