The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, says the flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has demonstrated clear and visible intentions to heal and reunite the party following its peaceful and decisive presidential primary.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Monday, February 2, 2026, Nana Boakye described the outcome of the NPP presidential primary held on Saturday as a major step towards party unity and reconciliation.

According to the National Organiser, Dr Bawumia’s post-primary message underscored his readiness to lead the party as a unifier, noting that the flagbearer had already begun signaling his commitment to reconciliation and collective progress.

"What is important now is that the presidential candidate has shown clear signs that he intends to rally the entire party behind him. He intends to heal the party, lead the reconciliation process, and spearhead an effective campaign as we work towards recapturing political power,” he said.

Nana Boakye further praised the conduct of the other presidential aspirants—Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Engineer Kwabena Agyei Agyapong—for accepting the results and publicly pledging their support to the flagbearer.

“Despite a fierce contest, all of them acknowledged that the election was free, fair, credible, transparent, and peaceful.”

He described the acceptance of the results by all contenders as a significant milestone for the party, stressing that it had always been the NPP’s demand that the process be credible and acceptable to all stakeholders.

“For us, that is a huge step towards attaining a united front, and so far, I believe we have achieved that,” Nana Boakye noted.

The National Organiser expressed gratitude to party members and stakeholders for the successful conclusion of what he described as a rigorous six-month primary process, adding that the party was satisfied with the outcome.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the NPP’s flagbearer after securing a decisive victory in Saturday’s presidential primary, setting the stage for the party’s campaign ahead of the next general elections.
