Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwa, has described Bryan Acheampong’s victory in the Volta Region during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries as his biggest surprise.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Dankwa said the overall conduct of the election was satisfactory but noted that Acheampong’s performance in the Volta Region was unexpected.
He also observed that Kennedy Agyapong performed below even the worst-case projections for his campaign, attributing the outcome partly to incidents in the weeks leading up to the election.
According to Mr. Dankwa, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ran a strong and focused campaign, while Bryan Acheampong appealed to delegates by presenting a fresh alternative. He noted that Acheampong successfully conveyed the same message as Agyapong but also had the advantage of age, which resonated with delegates.
“My biggest surprise in the election was Bryan Acheampong winning in the Volta Region. Overall, I would say the election went fairly well. Kennedy performed worse than our worst-case scenario. The incidents that happened a few weeks before the election also played a role. Bawumia was on point, and nothing surprised me. Bryan offered a breath of fresh air for the delegates. What Ken was campaigning for, Bryan could achieve as well, and Bryan also had the advantage of age,” he said.
