Adams Mohammed, the Bono Regional Director of the National Apprenticeship Programme (NPA) has presented industrial machines to 36 young women in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region to undergo employable skills training.
They comprised sewing and netting machines, hair dryers, accessories, and other basic training tools.
Speaking at a ceremony at Wenchi, Mr Mohammed explained that the beneficiaries, comprising 30 trainees and six master trainers, were the first batch of the programme in the Municipality and urged the apprentices to take their training seriously.
Madam Gloria Opoku, the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive, urged the beneficiaries to take good care of the machines and to take advantage of the government’s opportunity to learn and secure decent jobs for themselves.
Mr Desmond Sabala, the Bono Regional Director of the National Youth Authority (NYA), said the government remained dedicated to creating job opportunities for the youth through the implementation of the NAP.
He said employability skills training remained a prerequisite for job creation and poverty reduction, and advised unemployed youth to brace themselves and pursue apprenticeship programmes to improve their lot.
